Early life and education
Madhavi, whose real name is Kanaka Vijayalakshmi, was born in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, India on August 14, 1958. She was raised by her parents Sasirekha and Govindaswamy.
During her childhood, she had the good fortune to grow up with her elder sister Keerthi Kumari and younger brother Dhananjay. Madhavi’s passion for dance was ignited at an early age and she started learning Bharat Natyam from Uma Maheswari and folk dance from Bhatt.
Her dedication and talent have seen her showcase her skills in more than 1000 mesmerizing dance performances. During her schooling, she had the opportunity to study at Stanley Girls High School in Hyderabad, specifically the Abids branch.
Profession
When she was still a teenager, director Dasari Narayana Rao cast her in the Telugu film Thoorupu Padamara, which became a huge hit. This marked the beginning of her successful career in the film industry.
She worked with renowned Telugu actor Chiranjeevi in many films, starting with her first film Intlo Ramayya Veedhilo Krishnayya, which released in 1982. Their on-screen chemistry and talent enthralled the audience and further cemented her status as a talented actress.
After her successful collaboration with Chiranjeevi in the blockbuster Khaidi, she got an opportunity to work with him again in Big Boss, which was her last Telugu film. After that, renowned filmmaker K. Balachander invited her to play a supporting role in the Telugu film Maro Charitra in 1978.
Her performance was so impressive that she was chosen to reprise the same role in the 1981 Hindi remake of Ek Duuje Ke Liye. The Hindi version went on to become the highest-grossing film of 1981.

Madhavi’s union with Ralph Sharma stems from her relationship with Ralph’s spiritual leader and guru, Swami Rama, whom Ralph met and connected with at the age of 32 at the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy.
Later, in 1995, Madhavi also had the opportunity to meet Swami Rama. Eventually, the two got married on February 14, 1996. Madhavi and Ralph and their three daughters now live in New Jersey.
