Early life and education
Maia Sandu was born on May 24, 1972 in Risipeni, Moldova. She is the only child of Emilia Sandu and Grigore Sandu.

Career
Maia Sandu’s political career began in 2012 when she was appointed Minister of Education of Moldova, a position she held until 2015. During her term, she prioritized improving the education system and promoting Moldova’s pro-European agenda.
