Early life and education

Mercy Johnson Okojie is from Okeni, Kogi State. Her tribe belongs to Okeni, Kogi State, Nigeria.

She was born on August 28, 1984, in Lagos State to a father named Daniel Johnson, a former naval officer, and a mother named Elizabeth Johnson.

She is the fourth of seven children. She started her primary education in Calabar, Cross River State. Her father was a naval officer who was later transferred to Lagos State and she continued her education at the Nigerian Navy Primary School.

Apart from receiving her secondary education at the Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Mercy Johnson also received her secondary education at the Rivers State Secondary School.

After graduating from high school, Maisie Johnson auditioned for “Maid”, and then starred in many films such as “Hustler Thief”, “Baby Oku in America”, and “Palace War”.

In 2009, she won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 2009 Africa Movie Awards for her outstanding performance in the film “Live to Remember” and won the Best Actress Award at the 2013 Africa Magic Audience Choice Awards for her outstanding performance in the comedy film “Dirty Girl Dumebi”.
