She attended Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes and then pursued a degree in political science at St. Lawrence University in the North Country of New York. She founded the Miranda Theatre Company while studying at the Circle in the Square Theatre Academy on Broadway in addition to her schooling.
After completing her studies, Martha MacCallum worked as a corporate relations associate for Dow Jones & Company.

MacCallum has been with Fox News Channel since 2004. She hosted The Live Desk from 2006 to 2010 and then hosted America’s Newsroom from 2010 to 2017. In January of that year, MacCallum launched a new show on Fox News Channel called The First 100 Days. Her extensive experience has made her a valuable member of the Fox News team for over a decade, establishing her as an important voice in the news broadcast industry.
After Megyn Kelly resigned, Martha MacCallum took over Tucker Carlson Tonight, which was later renamed The Story with Martha MacCallum on April 28, 2017. However, Newsmax’s ratings skyrocketed in late 2020 while Fox and MacCallum’s ratings dropped significantly. As a result, on January 11, her show, The Story, was moved from the primetime 7 p.m. ET slot to the less lucrative 3 p.m. ET slot, leading to her demotion.
