Early life

Maya Jama grew up in Bristol, where she was born, and attended Cotham School. She was born on August 14, 1994.

She has Swedish ancestry on her mother’s side and Somali ancestry on her father’s side. Maya Jama’s mother, Sadie Jama, named her after American author and poet Maya Angelou when she was 19 years old.
