Niousha Noor on Netflix’s Kaleidoscope
Netflix’s highly anticipated TV show Kaleidoscope was released on New Year’s Day 2023. It is an eight-part American heist miniseries created by Eric Garcia. Master thief Leo Pap (Giancarlo Esposito) and his team attempt to pull off a $7 billion grand heist in the show, but their preparations are marred by betrayal, greed, and other obstacles.
On the show, Niousha plays FBI agent Nazan Abbasi. In the episode “Pink,” which takes place six months after the heist, Agent Abbassi has a personal interest in taking down the gang, especially Ava Mercer. Nazan interrogated Ava at her home seven years before the heist, even though she appeared to be intoxicated at the time. Viewers later learn that Ava complained to the federal agent, which led to Nazan being caught using drugs and fired from the force. The agent also lost custody of his son.
Back at work in the weeks before the heist, Nazan learns about a robbery in which Ava’s fingerprints were found on a pistol shell casing, causing a fire inside the agency. She begins to dig deeper into Ava and the jewelry heist, and eventually learns who in the group Ava is working with. The gang is attempting to rob the “Triad,” a group of three extremely wealthy people, of billions of dollars.
Nazan is still digging up the missing bonds, triplets, and crew six months after the heist. The agent collapses as she crosses the street at the end of “Pink.” “That was the moment when I read the script, I was like, ‘Wait, what happened to me?’” Niousha said. Distract. “So, I don’t know. I think I called [show creator Eric Garcia] and I thought, ‘Am I dead?’”
The trio and their empire are in danger as Agent Nazan refuses to drop the case.
