Texas beekeeper Walter Schumacher will star in a new Discovery show called “Bee Czar” — the name he’s known for in Texas. In the show, he’ll rescue bees from unwanted places and relocate them to places where they can thrive and pollinate without wearing any bee protection.

Through working with wild bees and coming to understand the depth of their beauty, intelligence, and pivotal role in the ecosystem, Walter developed an unbreakable bond with honeybees. He even realized that wearing a bee suit in hot weather would kill him before the bees could kill him, so he eventually stopped wearing them altogether.

He had a thriving business before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. But like most businesses, it affected him too.

However, Walter bounced back and continued to build his business, hoping to one day rescue unwanted beehives for donation.

Walter also shares his plans to turn the family farm into a new business headquarters after assembling a small team including his son Will.
