Since Peter Jon Lindberg and his wife, Nilou Motamed, share a passion for food and travel, it’s no surprise that they first met while working at Travel + Leisure magazine in 2000. At the time, Peter was a “section director” for a year. Nilou then joined the company in August and took over his position, while Peter was promoted to editor.

After dating for over 3 years, the couple got married on September 15, 2003.

Fast forward nearly two decades after their wedding, and the couple is still as in love as ever. From vacations in Mexico to traveling the world for work, the couple is inseparable. And even on their days off; especially Sundays, Jon and Nilou mostly spend their time exploring the markets and restaurants near their home and other neighborhoods.

Talking about their daily routine, Peter shared that he wakes up when the sun rises and wakes Nilou up at 6:30 a.m. He then makes her a cup of tea while she enjoys those precious minutes — Nilou’s morning routine includes a copy of “The New York Times,” but the setting changes depending on the season.

In the summer, the couple sits on the steps and watches people pass by, while in the winter, they curl up on the living room sofa by the fireplace for cozy morning reading.

Peter Jon Lindberg is the son of Judith and Gary Lindberg.

Speaking of his family, Peter shared that they are the friendliest people in the neighborhood. His dad asks everyone to call him Gar. And even whenever Peter’s friends come over, he says, “Hi Mrs. Lindberg. Hi Gar.” They are such great people.

Sadly, Gary has long since passed away. He would have turned 82 on June 20, 2022.
