Meghan Trainor shared the unique way she successfully potty trained her 3-year-old, Riley, by helping him overcome his fear of going to the toilet.
Trainor, the 30-year-old singer of “Made You Look” and “All About That Bass,” shares Riley with her husband, Spy children actor Daryl Sabara, 32, with the newest member of their family, a new baby boy, 16-month-old Barry.
But Trainor’s busy lifestyle as a modern pop star doesn’t really lend itself to potty training, so she had to come up with a creative method to help her toddler use the house. toilet.
Of course, as any parent knows, potty training can be a challenging and sometimes unpredictable milestone that requires a lot of patience and perseverance.
The same thing happens with someone like Meghan Trainor. But for her, the process was not just about teaching a skill but also addressing the underlying fears Riley had developed. So she approached it with the same determination and creativity that she brings to her music career.
“It’s tough when your 3-year-old son is afraid of all bathrooms,” Trainor admits E! News on Friday (November 15). “It’s definitely a confusing thing. And when we entered a new environment, especially on tour, he would cover his ears and ask, ‘How’s the bathroom?’ Like that was his first concern.”
So what did she do? “We created this game by collecting toy potties,” Trainor explains. “We thought, ‘That’s so good, we’re collecting that.’ Just whatever gets him excited about peeing in the potty.”
She added, “And now he’s a professional! He can do it himself.”
Trainor has been married to Sabara since 2018; The two met four years earlier and then began a relationship, eventually getting engaged in 2017. Trainor gave birth to Riley in February 2021, followed by Barry in July 2023.
Trainor’s latest album, timelesscame out in June, supported by the singles “Been Like This” and “To the Moon.” An additional single culled from the effort, “Oops,” was released later that month.
