Nicole’s father, David Bloom, died from complications of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) at the age of 39 on April 5, 2003. He was a reporter for NBC and was working at the time, reporting on war in Iraq.

David is known as an energetic and talented reporter whose battlefield radio programs give millions of soldiers a glimpse of war. He was a familiar face on morning and evening news shows, reporting live from the wars in Bosnia and Somalia, from Ground Zero in New York to Israel, Kuwait and Pakistan.

Nicole was only 9 years old when her father passed away. However, she grew to love him and be proud of him from listening to others say how wonderful he was and from the few small memories he had with him.

On April 6, 2023, on the 20th anniversary of his death, she posted on her social networks affectionately writing that she will forever be proud of him, endeared by his talent. humor as well as admiration for his intelligence and commitment to the truth.
