Melody Thornton flew to Burbank, California at the age of 19 to audition for The Pussycat Dolls. Robin Antin, the group’s founder, agreed with Jimmy Iovine of Interscope Geffen A&M Records to develop The Pussycat Dolls into a label and form their own recording pop group.

She was chosen to strengthen their vocal talents and joined Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Nicole Scherzinger, Jessica Sutta and Kimberly Wyatt. Melody Thornton has signed a deal with partner The Pussycat Dolls and will receive a portion of the group’s income.
