Melody Thornton (born September 28, 1984) is an American singer, television personality, and songwriter. She rose to fame as a member of the pop group The Pussycat Dolls, where she achieved commercial success and critical acclaim.
Melody Thornton began her career as a solo artist in 2009 when she released her debut album, PUSH. The album was well received by critics and earned Thornton a Grammy Award nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.
Since then, Melody Thornton has continued to release music as a solo artist and has dabbled in acting, appearing in a number of film and television roles. She is currently working on her second studio album, which is scheduled for release in 2019.

Early life and education
Melody Thornton was born on September 28, 1984. She is from Phoenix, Arizona, United States. She was born into a family of Mexican and African American descent. Her father’s name is Theolph Thornton, while her mother’s name is Elia Thornton. She also has an older sister named Nichole Thornton.
She completed her secondary education at Camelback High School.
Melody Thornton was inspired to sing after watching her father’s favourite artists, BB King, Aretha Franklin and The Jacksons, on TV. Her first performance was at her school, where she sang This Little Light of Mine at the age of six.
She then continued performing in local talent shows in Arizona. After graduating from high school, Melody Thornton enrolled in college, intending to major in music engineering, but dropped out after one semester to join the band The Pussycat Dolls.

Melody Thornton has never been married; however, she has been romantically linked to celebrities. In 2008 alone, she dated two celebrities. She dated Eddie Murphy in 2008, and shortly after their breakup, she had another relationship with another rapper named Shad Moss.
In 2010, it was reported that she was in a relationship with Kanye West. However, as of 2022, there is still no information about her relationship. As of now, Melody Thornton is either single or in a secret relationship.
Career
Melody Thornton flew to Burbank, California, at the age of 19 to audition for The Pussycat Dolls. Robin Antin, the group’s founder, agreed with Jimmy Iovine of Interscope Geffen A&M Records to develop The Pussycat Dolls into a label and form their own recording pop group.
She was chosen to bolster their vocal talent and join Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Nicole Scherzinger, Jessica Sutta and Kimberly Wyatt. Melody Thornton has signed with the Pussycat Dolls and will receive a share of the group’s earnings.
The Pussycat Dolls achieved worldwide fame in 2005 with the album PCD, which debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200 and produced the songs Don’t Cha, Buttons and Stickwitu. Stickwitu earned the group a Grammy Award nomination.
After Carmit Bachar left in March 2008, the group remained as a five-piece and produced their second studio album, Doll Domination, in 2008, which featured the songs When I Grow Up, I Hate This Part, Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny) and Hush Hush. Melody Thornton was the only member other than Nicole Scherzinger to contribute vocals to Doll Domination.
Additionally, Melody Thornton sang backup vocals on When I Grow Up, Whatcha Think About That, In Person, and Top of the World. She also recorded her first solo song, Space, which was featured on the deluxe edition of Doll Domination.
During The Pussycat Dolls’ hiatus, Melody Thornton took on a number of projects, including a cameo in Keri Hilson’s music video for Slow Dance and a stint as a judge on the television show E!.
