Early Life & Education
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Akintunde were born Mo Abudu on September 11, 1964 in London, United Kingdom. She was born to parents from Ondo State, Nigeria, which makes up her Yoruba tribe.
Mo Abudu grew up in London and attended Ridgeway School, MidKent College and West Kent College while studying at university.
She also holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development from the University of Westminster in London.
Career
Mo Abudu began his career as a recruitment consultant in 1987 with Atlas Recruitment Consulting in the UK. She then went on to work at Starform Group, a famous business information company in the United Kingdom. At Starform Group, she is in charge of research, design and organization of many conferences and seminars.
Mo Abudu moved to Nigeria in 1993 to work as director of Human Resources and Administration for Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited (now ExxonMobil). At ExxonMobile, she learned business discipline and how to create a corporate culture, which came in handy when she went out on her own.
They, like any entrepreneur, became aware of the problem and set out to solve it. Mo Abudu has identified a problem that needs a solution: organizations require trained people to join their workforce to reach the next level. As a result, she resigned from Exxon Mobile after nearly a decade and founded Vic Lawrence & Associates Limited in 2000. Vic Lawrence & Associates Limited (VLA) is one of Nigeria’s fastest growing Human Resources consulting firms.

She also runs an executive training center at the Protea Hotel in Oakwood Park in Lagos.
Mo Abudu has always been passionate about accurately conveying the story of Africa. Inspire Africa was born from this. Inspire Africa is a website dedicated to promoting the culture and diversity of Africa.
The brand gave birth to ‘Moments with Mo’, Africa’s first daily syndicated discussion show that celebrates the achievements and people of the continent. She wants Africa to be the place to tell her own story. We have a diverse culture and skillset, but our successes have traditionally been pushed back while negative stories have been highlighted. That moment with Mo changed everything.
Moments with Mo as her executive producer and host. The talk show is shown in 49 African countries and on cable television in the United Kingdom. Many A-list celebrities, governors, presidents and Nobel laureates have visited Mo Abudu, including US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde.
Those moments with Mo aren’t the only things she creates. Mo Abudu has created several television shows based on the same premise of conveying African stories, although they are aimed at different groups.
One of her initiatives, The Debaters, is a reality television show that gives a voice to African youth. There is also Naija Diamonds, an award-winning documentary series produced by Diamond Bank that highlights Nigeria’s unsung heroes.
Ebony Life TV is the epitome of everything, encapsulating everything. In 2013, she launched EbonyLife TV, the world’s first black entertainment and lifestyle network.
Africa Media and Entertainment City is the parent company of EbonyLife TV (MEC Africa). The series first aired on MultiChoice DSTV CH 165 before moving to Star Times Network earlier this year. The channel has produced and broadcast more than 5,000 hours of original television series, talk shows, entertainment and reality shows.
EbonyLife TV announced several new ventures in 2018, including its Video on Demand (VoD) service in Africa, EbonyLife ON, and three projects with Sony Pictures Television.
In 2014, Mo Abudu founded Ebony Life Films, a film production company, to fulfill his goal of showcasing African stories. With the movie ‘Fifty’, she made her debut as a film producer.

Tokunbo Abudu, a lawyer and businessman, is Mo Abudu’s husband. Temidayo Abudu and Adekoyejo Abudu, their daughter and son, were born to them. Their relationship remained even after the divorce.
Temidayo Abudu, daughter of Mo Abudu, got married in Los Angeles with a chic Californian theme.
Adebola Makanjuola is her daughter’s husband. Mo Abudu’s daughter is a copywriter and film producer. Unfortunately, the bride’s father, Tokunbo Abudu, was unable to attend the lavish wedding.
