The long-awaited autopsy results of the late singer Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, are expected within the next three to four weeks, confirmed Dr Richard Somiari, Director of the Lagos State Forensic and DNA Centre.

Dr. Somiari provided this update while testifying at the police investigation into Mohbad’s sudden death. He was cross-examined by defense attorneys throughout the proceedings.

Mohbad, who was only 27 years old, died on September 12, 2023 and was buried the following day. His death caused quite a controversy, prompting the Lagos State Government to conduct a thorough investigation through a police investigation.

The investigation, which has been ongoing at the Ikorodu High Court since October 13, 2023, is delving into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
Dr Somiari, speaking before Investigating Judge Adedayo Shotobi, explained, “We expect to receive the first set of autopsy results within three to four weeks and will be re-confirming the cause of death. We have considered a number of possibilities, including toxicology, as no specific cause was initially mentioned.“ .
He assured the public that strict security measures were in place to ensure the integrity of the autopsy samples and the accuracy of the results.

During the proceedings, Mr Sadiq Ayobami, also known as Spendy, testified that he spent time with Mohbad the day before his death. They attended a concert together in Ikorodu before Mohbad visited Ayobami’s home.
Speaking before Mohbad’s parents, Ms Abiodun Kolawole, an activist representing African Women Lawyers Associationadvised them to pursue legal solutions to resolve any issues regarding the paternity of Mohbad’s child, instead of resorting to social media.
Judge TA Shotobi adjourned the trial until April 15 and asked all parties involved to appear for the continuation of the trial on that date.
