She became one of the most talked about Nigerian influencers in late November 2020, after a video of her taunting a child beggar with Fearless energy drink while in a car went viral. .

Early life

Motara was formed on October 27, 1995 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Born and raised in a small village in Ibadan by a financially unbalanced mother, Motara was forced to face a bit of difficulty growing up.

She has explained on a number of occasions through a series of tweets and posts that she did not grow up poor, but rather poor.

Her mother was a street vendor who did all she could to ensure that she and her brother were okay at their level since her father abandoned them when she was just 6 years old.

Education

Motara attended primary and secondary school in Ibadan, Oyo State.

She continued her studies at Ibadan Polytechnic where she obtained a degree in Microbiology.

Career

Motara was not born with a silver spoon in her mouth, so she had to put most of her dreams on hold at an early stage. She accomplished a lot of work after graduating from school with the help of her mother.

She said of it all, “If I get these degrees, I can secure my future” since she was raised by a mother who was not created.

Omotara while attending school was involved in several social activities, including influencing. She became respected because her background was always on social media through her tweets.

She is classified as one of the Nigerian influencers (women) with the ability to influence the new generation.

Through these, she has achieved many contracts, from ambassador contracts to becoming members of large organizations.

This feat happened in late November when she posted a video mocking a child beggar claiming it was for fun purposes on her WhatsApp. The video immediately received unhealthy criticism from her acquaintances.

Due to the backlash, she quickly took down the video, and immediately after taking it down, the video appeared on Twitter. The video immediately became a global issue when it was tagged “inhumane and against the moral views of society”.

The viral video became a nationwide trend and also trended in other countries including the United States of America (USA) and France among others.

The video was also featured on leading websites such as BBC and Worldstarhiphop.

Due to the video going against all ethical standards globally and being widely criticized, Motara lost most of her endorsement deals and was fired from most of her jobs. Her Twitter account @Motaraaa was also suspended.

She opened another Twitter account @motaraaa1 to apologize for her actions as quoted below;

I, Motara truly regret my actions, which caused my life to collapse before my eyes…. never bargain for this ☹😢😓

My account was suspended, my endorsement transaction was lost…. internationally humiliated. I promise to do better for the world
