Mikkey Dee of rock band Motörhead has revealed a scary health challenge he faced over the holiday season.
In a post on his Facebook on January 2, Dee shared that he almost died after a battle with “a very serious blood infection” or sepsis.
“Just a brief statement about what has happened to me over the past three weeks: First, I want to thank everyone for the warm Christmas and New Year wishes that I have not been able to return. I always try to do it every year,” his post begins.
Dee thanked the medical staff for supporting his recovery and he shared that he is now on the right track. However, he noted that there will be a lot of rehab in his future.
“After many surgeries, I am now back home and all the numbers are going in the right direction,” he said. There is still a lot of recovery and recovery ahead.”

Following his post to Facebook, Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet revealed that Dee had developed sepsis after spraining his leg. His condition worsened and he was hospitalized as a result.
“I was so sick that I had to go by ambulance to Sahlgrenska and there they discovered that I was worth sky-high, so I became a priority there,” Dee told the outlet.
“It was immediate surgery, the first of three. They removed what was dead, infected and severely infected. It was not a good journey I had . Another day and I’ll play the drums with Lemmy [Kilmister of Motörhead] in heaven. I can say that,” he shared.
Kilmister passed away in 2015. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer two days before his death on December 28.
