Early life
Mulla Rae comes from a Christian family, which explains why both his first and last name, Andrew Emmanuel, are biblical. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew in the cold city of Jos in 1994.
Coming into the world in December, Mulla Rae would continue to spend his early years in the city. Although born in Jos, his hometown is Kogi, North Central Nigeria.
To begin his education, the boy was enrolled in a kindergarten near his parents’ apartment. Then, in the early 2000s, Emmanuel’s family moved from Jos to Lagos.
From a young age, his parents instilled in him good moral values, the drive to be disciplined, and the courage to consistently pursue his dreams. This is why when Mulla Rae discovered his love for music at the age of 16 and wanted to pursue it professionally, his parents did not stop him. Instead, they gave him the support he needed.
Education
Mulla Rae obtained his First Class Certificate from a prestigious primary school in Lagos.
After six years of rigorous study and active participation in extracurricular activities, he received his West African School Certificate. He graduated with high marks from one of the top secondary schools in Lagos.
With a passion for learning and advancing his knowledge, he applied for admission into Lagos State University.
He is currently a student in the Faculty of Creative Arts at the University.
Career
Mulla Rae started writing lyrics in 2010, a very creative artist when he was only sixteen years old. His passion for music led him to fill the pages of many notebooks in his room to compose songs. He also started performing the songs in front of his family and friends in the neighborhood.
Encouraged by positive reviews from her parents, Mulla Rae decided to overcome her fears and headed to a nearby studio to record the song.
However, Mulla Rae soon discovered that he had a lot of work to do before he could make it in the industry. So he started working on his sound to refine it to differentiate himself from other artists. So he put off releasing projects for a while as he wanted to develop his creativity and learn more about the music business.
During this period, he recorded several demos that caught the attention of several music enthusiasts when he performed them at local shows and concerts.
After years of being underground, he decided to break into the music scene in a big way. And he did so with his official debut single, Wanted. The song became an instant hit, winning Mulla Rae a huge following. The single became one of the most popular songs in the country when it was played on major radio stations. Due to the success of the single, his management team decided to quickly shoot a music video for the song. His fans had been asking for it.
After weeks of keeping fans in suspense, he released the visual for his hit single Wanted in April 2021.
On September 11, 2021, Mulla Rae gave fans a glimpse of his upcoming project when he posted a photo of him and Afrobeats singer Zinoleesky during a recording session. The duo had just collaborated on a single. The single, which is still untitled, is expected to be released soon.
The Afrobeats star is currently signed to MullaDrew Records, where he owns a significant stake in the label.
