Cass Bird’s father, Bruce Bird, is no more. Bruce is the founder of Camel Management and a former record industry executive. He died in November 1992 at the age of 44 after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage at his home in Calabasas.
As regional sales and promotion manager for Ohio’s Liberty Records Distribution Company, Bruce began his career in 1966. He moved to Buddah Records in 1974 to serve as vice president of promotions. He collaborated with the Isley Brothers, Charlie Daniels, Curtis Mayfield, Gladys Knight and Gladys Knight at Buddah.
Bruce temporarily had his own marketing and promotions company before joining Casablanca Records in 1976 as vice president of promotions. Artists on his label include Donna Summer, Kiss and Village People. He founded Camel Records in 1982 in collaboration with MCA, where he introduced the band Night Ranger. He later founded Camel Management and developed clients such as Vince Neil, Sass Jordan, Slapbak and Tattoo Rodeo.
In addition to his wife and children, Bruce is survived by his mother Anne, two brothers and a sister.
