early life
Nandi Nyembe was born in 1950 in Kliptown, Johannesburg.
She lived through the apartheid era and tells of her experiences during that period through some of the characters he played.
She said that because Nandi Nyimbe was black, she was deprived of many things and her family was unable to meet her needs at the time when she was growing up.

Nandi Nyembe has a daughter. She practices sangoma (intermediate level). She was initiated into sangoma at the age of 17.
She said this before she knew she was a witch doctor. She became seriously ill after she developed a connection with the spirits of people who died on the road. She also told Time Life magazine about her illness.
The interview went on as follows: “I was sick and my mother had to take me to the Chris Hani Baragavanath Hospital. At one point, the doctor had to test my urine and surprisingly, there was dirt in it, but there was nothing wrong with me.”
