Early life

Her younger brother Brian died of leukemia in 1965, when he was only seventeen. Naomi Judd raised both daughters as a single mother, first studying nursing and then pursuing a successful singing career.
Career
She formed the Judds, a popular singing duo with her daughter Wynonna. The Judds had twenty top 10 hits, including fifteen number ones, and won all three major country music awards for eight consecutive years.
Additionally, the duo has received a host of additional awards and honors, including five Grammy Awards. Judd received a Grammy Award for Best Country Song of the Year for the Judds’ hit “Love can build a bridge.”
The Judds’ career came to an abrupt halt when Naomi Judd was diagnosed with hepatitis C after selling more than 20 million albums and videos in seven years and at the height of her success.
The Judds’ final tour was the most successful musical event in pay-per-view cable television history, and their farewell show is considered the most successful musical event ever. To raise awareness about hepatitis C, Judd founded the Naomi Judd Research and Education Foundation in 1991. She drew on her personal journey as a spokesperson for the American Liver Foundation.
