Neil Young is helpless hope The BBC withdrew from their involvement in the upcoming Glastonbury festival.
On December 31, the legendary singer revealed that he would no longer perform at the iconic festival due to his company’s involvement.
“Chrome Hearts and I are looking forward to playing Glastonbury, one of my all-time favorite outdoor shows,” Young said in a post with Neil Young Archives.
The male singer shared that the festival was no longer what he remembered and it had become a problem for him.
“We are told that the BBC is now a partner of Glastonbury and wants us to do things in a way that we are not interested in. It seems that Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not as I remember. Thanks Thank you for coming to see us one last time!” he added.
Despite his refusal to participate in the festival, Young’s other tour dates will continue as previously scheduled.
“We won’t be playing Glastonbury on this tour as it’s the closing event for the company and it’s not what it used to be for me. Hope to see you at one of the other venues on the tour,” he said.
So far, the festival has one confirmed act, Rod Stewart. However, other names such as Rihanna, Eminem and Sam Fender have been dropped, although not confirmed at this time.
Nile Rodgers accidentally let slip that he would be performing at Glastonbury during his speech at the Rolling Stone prize.
“We’re going to have a blast because we’re watching him live,” Rodgers said of watching Stewart, according to subway.
“Rod and I have been friends for 80 billion years, which means he’s going to play tricks on me… He’ll probably pinch my ass, because he always does. I don’t knows what he’ll get out of it.” “, he added.
“We’ll have a great time together. I don’t know anyone in his current band, but maybe we’ll get together. No matter what the world thinks, Rod Stewart and I, we really love each other. We’re really quite close,” Rodgers shared.
Young last performed at Glastonbury in 2009 and only part of his show was shown on the BBC.
The broadcaster said in a statement at the time: “Neil’s management has agreed to give TV and radio five songs as they watch and listen to his performance. They believe in the live event and retain the mystery of it and their artists.”
Other headliners are expected to be announced in March and the remaining acts will be announced in June.
Last year’s Glastonbury featured big pop names like Dua Lipa and SZA.
