Nigerian music legend Onyeka Onwenu dies at 72

Nigerian music legend Onyeka Onwenu, affectionately known as “Elegant Stallion”, has tragically passed away at the age of 72. News of her sudden death sent the nation into mourning as fans and celebrities paid tribute to the iconic singer, songwriter and actress.

Onwenu reportedly collapsed shortly after performing at the 80th birthday celebration of Stella Chinyelu Okoli, the owner of Emzor Pharmaceuticalsin Lagos. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but sadly died on arrival. The exact cause of her death is yet to be revealed.

In addition to her artistic achievements, Onwenu is also a respected journalist and politician. She served as the chairperson of the Imo State Council for Arts and Culture and later became the Director General of the National Women Development Centre.
