Niniola (born 15 December 1986) is a singer, vocalist, songwriter and stage performer.
Her talent was recognized in the sixth season of the MTN Project Fame music competition held in 2013.
She competed against Limpopo Grandmaster Kcee and others in this prestigious competition and won third place.

early life
Niniola is from the western region of Nigeria, Ekiti State to be exact.
She is a Christian and of Yoruba ethnicity.
She is the daughter of Simon Apata, a former brigadier general who was murdered when he was eight years old.
Her younger sister is the famous Nigerian singer Teni, whose full name is Teniola Apata.
Her father had three wives and many children.
Although the Apata family is large, they remain united. Niniola’s father is a music lover who plays records at home every day.
However, her mother did not support her decision to become a musician at first but eventually came to accept it.

Niniola received her primary education at Apata Memorial School, a military boarding school in Ekiti State founded by her father, Simon Apata.
She graduated from the University of Lagos with a four-year Bachelor of Education degree.

Niniola’s love for music dates back to her secondary school days. She would perform for her classmates for free and she was so good that she led the school’s cultural music group to inter-school and inter-state competitions.
After graduation, Niniola continued to pursue her love for music, which led her to compete in the sixth season of MTN Project Fame in 2013. Her performance was recognized, and she took third place in the competition.
Her first single, “Ibadi”, produced by Sarz, was released in March 2014 and became one of the most popular songs in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. She went on to create more hit songs. For example, “Gbowode” is one of them.
Subsequent singles such as “Soke”, “Start Over”, “Shaba”, “J’ete”, “Jigi-Jigi” (and of course “Maradona” and “Sicker”) were all hits.
Niniola made his debut on the international stage by collaborating with Ugandan singer Eddie Kenzo on his hit song “Mbilo Mbilo”. The song won them the Best Collaboration Award at the 2016 AFRIMA Awards.
After giving her fans much anticipation, the Nigerian singer released her first album, This Is Me, which consists of 13 songs, on November 1, 2017. The album won the Apple Music Artist of the Month award.
Her success led her to a music tour in South Africa, where she was immediately signed to perform at the prestigious South African Music Carnival in February 2018.
Famous African DJ Snake was obsessed with Niniola’s single “Maradona”, which prompted her to collaborate on a remix titled “Maradona Riddim”, which was released on July 22, 2018.
Niniola keeps releasing hit songs, breaking the record of being the first Nigerian female artist to reach over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Niniola went to the Landmark Events Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos State for her first concert, “Radio Humanity”. The show was a huge success.
Niniola’s achievements have earned her nominations in different awards and categories. Most importantly, she received a 2020 Grammy nomination for her contribution to Beyoncé’s song “Find Your Way Back” from her album The Lion King: The Gift.
Apart from this, she has also received nominations for the Africa Choice Award (2015), Silver Screen Awards (Best Female Vocalist 2015), Nigerian Oscars (Most Promising Artist of the Year 2015), Ghana Nigeria Entertainment Awards (Best Actress 2018), and many others.
