NJ congressman accused of being a fake Bruce Springsteen fan by altering his Spotify plan

Josh Gottheimer, a New Jersey gubernatorial candidate, was questioned about the legality of his Spotify Wrapped.

Gottheimer has long stated that he is a fan of Bruce Springsteen and even announced his candidacy during Springsteen’s “Glory Days.”

Now he’s shared his Spotify Wrapped and the top five are all songs from his fellow New Jersey native. Songs such as “Because the Night”, “Glory Days” and “Thunder Road” all made the list.

“No surprises here…. Fun fact: my first concert was at the Meadowlands to see The Boss!” he captioned the post.

However, the post was criticized by some who claimed the font was different from other Spotify Wrapped uploads.

Matt Arco, a political reporter for NJ.com shared via X, “Is Gottheimer’s campaign spoofing Spotify Wrapped to win over The Boss fans? The things you do to win elections elected in this state.”

“Faking the Spotify package list…so embarrassing,” another commented.

Gottheimer admitted to the press agency Advanced Communications NJ that he changed the statistics.

“This would be my Spotify Wrapped if I didn’t share my account with my 12- and 15-year-olds,” he told the outlet. Even though for me it’s Springsteen all day – don’t get me wrong, I still love listening to Taylor Swift!”

According to this newspaper, Gottheimer is the leading candidate for governor of New Jersey.

His love for Springsteen doesn’t stop there, because the candidate also mentioned Springsteen on his campaign website.

“As a child, Josh helped customers at his father’s store, spent time at the beach and the Meadowlands, and watched Springsteen every chance he got (and still does),” the website says. .
