He is an Igbo man by tribe and native to Anambra State, in the Southeast region. His hometown is Oba.

After graduating with honors from high school, he was admitted to the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). Obi Cubana graduated from the school after four years of study with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

Career

As a young Igbo man, Obi Cubana was imbued with the entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. This spirit came from seeing his parents provide for him and his siblings. So, while he was an undergraduate at UNN, he combined his studies with running small businesses. This is to help him have money to pay bills and save money for rainy days.

After graduating from university, he moved to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to actively pursue business. He started an interior decoration business and started looking for contracts. He got his big break in 1999 when a Senator contracted him to do the interior decoration of the latter’s mansion. Profits from that contract helped Obi Cubana expand his business scale and invest in other business activities.

In 2006, he decided to break into a new field by entering the nightlife business. This led to the opening of his flagship club called Ibiza Club. The club is located in Abuja. His experience running other businesses proved useful and Obi Cubana grew the establishment into one of the leading clubs in the country’s capital. Three years later, he founded another Club in Owerri, Imo State, in 2009. This time, he named it Cubana Club.

His success at both clubs led to the formation of the Cubana Group. He holds the position of Chairman and CEO of the group. This group has a series of business activities in the fields of night entertainment, hotels and real estate. Obi Cubana has established clubs, restaurants and hotels across Nigeria.

Obi Cubana recently expanded into real estate and became a real estate developer. This made him one of the top businessmen in the country. Owning the Cubana Group has made Obi Cubana a billionaire and a top socialite in Nigeria.

The king of nightlife, Obi Cubana, is a family man. Obi Cubana is married to his handsome beau, Ebele Iyiegbu. They got married in 2008.

Ebele Iyiegbu is a lawyer and humanitarian. She is the founder of the NGO KIEK Foundation. Their union was blessed with four children.
