He is the founder and chairman of Cubana Group, one of Nigeria’s leading hospitality businesses. He is known as the King of Nightlife due to his success in establishing thriving nightclubs.

Obinna Iyiegbu known by his stage name Obi Cubana is a 49-year-old Nigerian entertainer and business magnate. He was born on 12 April 1975 in Anambra, his home state.

He is an Igbo by tribe and a native of Anambra State, in the Southeast. His ancestral home is the Oba.

Obi Cubana attended primary school at Central Primary School in Oba.

He attended secondary school at Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha.

After graduating from high school with good grades, he was admitted to the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). Obi Cubana graduated after four years of study with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

Career

As an Igbo youth, Obi Cubana was imbued with the entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. This spirit came from watching his parents provide for him and his siblings. So, as an undergraduate at UNN, he combined his studies with running small businesses. This helped him earn money to pay his bills and save for a rainy day.

After graduating from university, he moved to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to pursue a career in business. He started an interior decoration business and began looking for contracts. His big break came in 1999 when a Senator contracted him to do the interior decoration of the Senator’s residence. The profits from that contract enabled Obi Cubana to expand the business and invest in other businesses.

In 2006, he decided to break into a new field by entering the nightlife business. This led to the opening of his flagship club called Ibiza Club. The club was located in Abuja. Ebele Iyiegbu is a lawyer and humanitarian. She is the founder of the non-governmental organization KIEK Foundation. Their marriage has been blessed with four children.
