Obi Cubana is a member of the prominent Iyeigbu family of Idemili Local Government Area. He was born on April 12, 1975. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Iyeigbu, named him Obinna Iyeigbu.

He is an Igbo by tribe and a native of Anambra State, in the Southeast. His ancestral home is the Oba.

He attended secondary school at Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha.

After graduating from high school with good grades, he was admitted to the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). Obi Cubana graduated after four years of study with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

Career

As an Igbo youth, Obi Cubana was imbued with the entrepreneurial spirit from a young age. This spirit came from watching his parents provide for him and his siblings. So, as an undergraduate at UNN, he combined his studies with running small businesses. This helped him earn money to pay his bills and save for a rainy day.

After graduating from university, he moved to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to pursue a career in business. He started an interior decoration business and began looking for contracts. His big break came in 1999 when a Senator contracted him to do the interior decoration of the Senator’s residence. The profits from that contract enabled Obi Cubana to expand the business and invest in other businesses.

In 2006, he decided to break into a new field by entering the nightlife business. This led to the opening of his flagship club called Ibiza Club. The club was located in Abuja. His experience in running other businesses came in handy and Obi Cubana grew the establishment into one of the top clubs in the nation’s capital. Three years later, he opened another Club in Owerri, Imo State, in 2009. This time, he named it Club Cubana.

His success at both clubs led to the creation of the Cubana Group. He serves as Chairman and CEO of the group. The group has a string of businesses in the areas of nightlife, hospitality and real estate. Obi Cubana has established clubs, restaurants and hotels across Nigeria.

Obi Cubana has recently branched out into real estate, where he has become a property developer. This has made him one of the top businessmen in the country. His ownership of Cubana Group has made Obi Cubana a billionaire and a top celebrity in Nigeria.

In 2022, Obi Cubana announced the establishment of Odogwu Bitters, an alcoholic beverage company. In a short time, Odogwu Bitters has grown to become one of the leading alcoholic beverage brands in the country. Their first official ambassador is a famous Nigerian musician, Portable.

The king of nightlife, Obi Cubana, is a family man. Obi Cubana is married to his sweetheart, Ebele Iyiegbu. They got married in 2008.

Ebele Iyiegbu is a lawyer and humanitarian. She is the founder of the non-governmental organization KIEK Foundation. Their marriage has been blessed with four children.
