The case accusing Nicki Minaj of assaulting a former employee has hit a roadblock.
According to TMZ, the Detroit Police Department filed a request for a warrant in this case and has now been blocked by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. The reason behind the denial of the order is said to be due to lack of evidence on the part of the accuser.
While this does not mean that an arrest warrant will not be issued in the future, there is currently insufficient evidence and police have been asked to investigate further into the alleged incident.
On January 3, a lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles alleging that Minaj’s former manager, Brandon Garrett, was assaulted by the rapper. In the lawsuit obtained by United States today. Garrett alleges that the incident occurred after he sent another employee to pick up her prescription after stopping her Pink Friday 2 Tour.
Garrett asserted that he sent another employee to pick up the prescription because he was busy assisting her with dressing during the performance. After Minaj found out, she was said to have been angry with Garrett.
“You are a dead man walking away. You just messed up your whole life and you will never be a nobody, I guarantee it,” the lawsuit said.
Garrett claims that Minaj allegedly became so angry that she hit him to the point that his hat fell off his head.
He is suing Minaj for assault, battery and emotional distress.
Garrett’s attorney, Tom Feher, shared his own statement about the alleged attack, in which he claimed that Minaj threatened his client’s life.
“Mr. Garrett was simply completing his duties and when Ms. Minaj believed that his job performance was no longer effective, she resorted to physical violence and threatened his life. However, we has given Ms. Minaj and her legal team ample time to resolve this matter informally.” did not respond and we were forced to file this lawsuit. Since news of the assault allegation broke, Minaj’s attorney released a statement that was obtained by the agency. Diversity where he denied his client had committed any of the allegations claimed by Garrett.
