In the wake of Liam Payne’s recent death, a close friend of his, Rogelio “Roger” Nores, has come forward to deny claims he abandoned the star before his tragic fall.
Despite being mistaken as a suspect in a drug-related incident, Nores still vehemently denied any involvement in the allegations of abandonment and drug supply that led to the untimely death of the One Direction star.
Nores firmly denies abandoning Payne, who tragically fell to his death from a third-floor hotel balcony after a drug-induced night of drunkenness just last month.
He told The Sun, “I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened.”
“I could never have imagined something like this would happen,” he added.
Among those being officially investigated by the authorities, there are 2 hotel employees in the group of 3 individuals.
Nores continued: “I never abandoned Liam, I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened.”
“There were more than 15 people in the hotel lobby chatting and joking with him when I left,” he said. “I could never have imagined something like this would happen. I gave my statement to the prosecutor on October 17 as a witness.”
“I have not spoken to any police officers or prosecutors since then. I am not Liam’s manager, he is just a very close friend of mine and please refer to the email I sent to Liam and his team on August 23,” he said.
“I am truly heartbroken by this tragedy and I miss my friend every day,” he continued.
On October 16, tragedy struck when Payne tragically lost his life falling from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palmero hotel in Argentina.
According to authorities, “Liam Payne was not fully conscious or was in a state of marked impairment or loss of consciousness at the time of the fall.”
During his time in Argentina, one defendant is said to have been frequently near the artist, who is believed to be Nores.
Furthermore, prosecutors allege that a hotel employee provided Payne with cocaine on two separate occasions during his stay.
In a recent development, a third individual was implicated in supplying drugs to Payne on two separate occasions when he visited on October 14.
Both suspects face two drug supply charges.
