Patience Ozokwor (born September 14, 1958), also known as Mama G, is a famous Nigerian musician, fashion designer, gospel singer and actress.

She previously won the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress in 2012 and 2013.

Patience Ozokwor is one of the 100 distinguished Nigerians honored by the Nigerian government to celebrate the 2014 merger of the North and South protectorates.

Early life and education

Pattersons Ozokwo was born in Ama Obo village in Ngwo, Enugu State in present-day Nigeria. She attended the Abimbola Gibson Memorial School in Lagos. She was born on September 14, 1958 and is now 69 years old.

She developed a keen interest in acting since primary school and acted in different stage plays. She later attended the Enugu Institute of Management and Technology and graduated with a degree in Fine and Applied Arts.

She was already a star before she started her acting career and made her first foray into radio drama. She participated in a soap opera called Someone Cares, produced by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

Pattersons Ozokwo married at the age of 19 and had three biological children and five adopted children, all named after her. In 2000, her husband died.

She said her biggest regret in life was not marrying the man of her choice, and after her husband died, her children prevented her from remarrying.

Renowned actress, Patience Ozokwor, married her late husband, Emeka Ani, when she was 19, in an arranged marriage.

According to her, her parents forced her to get married at such a young age despite many bids at the time, for unknown reasons but probably influenced by the polyandrous family she was born into.

Despite the difficulties in her marriage, she persevered and in 2000, her husband passed away. Before his death, Patience Ozokwo’s late husband became her true partner. According to Patience Ozokwo, she still misses her husband many years after his death.

The famous and most loved entertainer has three biological and five adopted children who all share her name. Her son owns a music company in the United States and is passionate about the entertainment industry.

She also has a daughter who is also well versed in the industry, but neither of them has attempted to break into the Nigerian film industry. Her son and daughter are now married.
