Early life
Paul Otiende Amollo was born on February 1 (1 February 1971) and grew up with parents who were not financially well off.
At one point, he thought about becoming a fisherman.
However, he dropped out of primary school to work as a fisherman before his family convinced him to return to school.
The main reason for his decision was his parents’ financial constraints. As a result, he thought that he would not be able to continue his studies after finishing primary school.
However, he was persuaded and encouraged by his aunt to continue going back to school.
Paul Otiende Amollo’s father, who worked as a labourer for the Maseno University administration, was fired and thrown out of the house when he was a child.
This event inspired him to strive and study. It was amidst all these hardships that he aimed to reach the pinnacle of his career today.
Education
Paul Otiende Amollo had his primary education at Maseno Mixed Primary School. He easily joined Maranda Boys Secondary School in 1986 because he was an outstanding student.
He graduated from Maranda Boys’ High School in 1989 with a KCSE average of A (average).
After graduating from high school, he studied law at the University of Nairobi and obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1995.
He also holds a Diploma in Law from Kenya Law School. In 1998, he received a Certificate in International Human Rights Law from Lund University, Sweden.
In 2014, Amollo continued his studies for a Master of Laws (LL.M) at the University of Nairobi (DAAD German Academic Exchange Program).
Career
Apart from being a lawyer, Paul Otiende Amollo is also an accomplished researcher. He has conducted various researches in the areas of Constitutional Law, Theory and Practice, African Human Rights System, HIV/AIDS and Law.

He is also serving the Government of Kenya as the Chairman of the Administrative Justice Commission (Office of the People’s Ombudsman).
