Pearl Thusi (born 13 May 1988) also known as Queen Sono, is a 32-year-old South African actress, television presenter and model.
This adorable celebrity came into the spotlight after winning first runner-up at the Miss Teen South Africa pageant in 2003.
In 2005, to cement her name in the modeling industry, she won the Miss KwaZulu-Natal pageant. Pearl Thusi is also an entrepreneur and is friends with South African DJ Zinhle.

Early life
Pearl Thusi was born on May 13, 1988 in a family of three siblings.
She had a difficult childhood as her father, Bhekizizwe Thusi, continuously abused her mother until the day she died. She was only 14 years old when her mother died.
Due to the ugly circumstances, Pearl Thusi still has a strained relationship with her father to this day. After her mother’s death, she immediately took on the role of mother to her younger sisters, Silinde and Sanilisiwe Thusi.
Education
Pearl Thusi attended Pinetown Girls High School. Immediately after completing her studies, she enrolled in a modeling career.
Career
Pearl Thusi began her modeling career at the age of 15. She entered several beauty pageants in her home country of Kwazulu-Natal. While doing so, she learned the basics of modeling.
She entered the Miss Teen South Africa 2003 pageant and won first runner-up. She was the youngest contestant.
After her success in her first major pageant, she decided to pursue an entertainment career. She appeared in numerous commercials for various companies in South Africa. She also appeared on the covers of many magazines such as True Love, Bona Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Destiny Hair, Grazia, City Press iMag, Gaschette and Blaque.
Pearl Thusi’s first role came in 2009 when she played Particia Kopong in No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency. Since entering the film industry, she has starred in popular television series such as Tremors 5: Blood Lines (2015), Catching Feelings (2017), Kalushi (2017), The Scorpion King: Book of Souls (2018), Isidingo (2013), Quantico (2016-2017).
She acted alongside famous American actress Priyanka Chopra. She appeared in Queen Solo as the lead, which is Netflix’s first original series in Africa.
She is the host of Lip Sync Battle Africa on MTV, Moments With Mo on EbonyLife TV and is currently the host of Behind the Story.
