Pierce Brosnan believes Mamma Mia! 3 is ‘can do’

Pierce Brosnan believes that ‘Mamma Mia!’ Tuesday the film was “possible” after meeting with producer Judy Craymer over the summer.

The 71-year-old actor confirmed he would “welcome the opportunity” to return for another installment of the ABBA-inspired film after previously appearing in the 2008 original and 2018 sequel ‘Mamma Mia! Here we go again’.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: “[‘Mamma Mia!’ producer] Judy Craymer is a close friend, we met over the summer and I believe my theater actor friends would jump at the chance to go do ‘Mamma Mia 3’.

“I think it can be done. Of course, that’s always the story. What is the story? I would certainly welcome the opportunity to return to the world of ‘Mamma Mia!’, that’s for sure.”

Craymer has previously admitted that she would love to star in a third film, but she revealed that ABBA stars Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson were worried that there wasn’t enough good material left in their back catalogs to execute it.

“A third film is something I really want to do,” she told the Daily Star Sunday. The studio wants to do that. Benny and Bjorn need a little more convincing.

“They said, ‘There aren’t enough songs.’ And I said, ‘There are enough songs and I know how they can work.’ There are so many things you can do with those songs.”

However, another cast member Christine Baranski recently revealed Craymer is feeling optimistic and has even outlined a plot.

“I was in London with Judy Kramer at our favorite watering hole, she was planning ‘Mamma Mia 3,’” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

“She gave me the narrative plot of how it would all play out. That’s all I can say! But it’s not like, ‘Oh, I wish that could happen!’ Judy Kramer makes things happen.”

‘The Good Wife’ star – who plays Tanya Chesham-Leigh in the series – added: “People are attracted to happiness and joy, not doom and gloom.

“’Mamma Mia’ has made millions of people around the world happy. Is it a bit stupid, a bit hotheaded? That’s part of its charm.”
