Bashar Barakah Jackson (born July 20, 1999 – February 19, 2020) was an American rapper and songwriter who rose to fame in 2019 after releasing the songs “Welcome To The Party” and “Dior”.

early life
Pop Smoke was born on July 20, 1999 to Greg Jackson and Audrey Jackson. His father is from Panama and his mother is Jamaican. He has an older brother named Obasi Jackson. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and spent his growing years in the city.
Pop Smoke grew up in Brooklyn and attended nine different schools. In eighth grade, he was expelled for bringing a gun to school. As a result, he was placed on house arrest for two years after being convicted of “possession of a weapon.” He moved to Philadelphia and attended Rocktop Academy.

Pop Smoke briefly played basketball but stopped after being diagnosed with a heart murmur. It was during this time that he became deeply involved in street life and joined a gang.
Profession
Pop Smoke signed a record deal with Victor Victor Worldwide in April 2019. The music label is a subsidiary of Universal Music. He subsequently released his first official single, “Welcome To The Party”, on April 23, 2019. Three months later, he released his first mixtape, “Meet The Woo”, on July 26, 2019.
In the following months, Pop Smoke released other chart-topping songs such as “War”, “100 on a Coupe” and “Christopher Walking”.
His second mixtape, Meet The Woo 2, was released on February 7, 2020. The project featured Lil Tjay, Quavo, A Boogie with da hoodie, and Fivio Foreign. The mixtape helped Pop earn his first top ten single in the United States.
After Pop Smoke’s death, his posthumous debut album, Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon, was released on July 3, 2020.
50 Cent volunteered to serve as executive producer of the project back in March 2020. As a result, the album can be considered a commercial success, as a few days after its release, all 19 songs from the project entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and the album itself reached number one in several countries.
The second posthumous album, Faith, was released on July 16, 2020. Soon after its release, the album topped the Billboard 200 chart.

Personal life
Pop Smoke was shot three times when gunmen broke into his apartment on February 19, 2020. He was presumably associated with the Crips gang. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. This incident took place in Los Angeles, California. The house where Pop Smoke was murdered was an Airbnb rental building owned by a Hollywood star.
After months of police investigation, the truth finally came out that Pop Smoke’s death was not a gang war as some people believed, but an armed robbery. Instead, the intruder shot and killed Pop Smoke when he clashed with the intruder.
As a result, five people (three adult men and two minors) were arrested and detained on suspicion of his murder.
Rapper Pop Smoke is buried in Greenwood Cemetery. He died at the age of 20 after playing a small role in the Hollywood film Boogie.
Pop Smoke had dated American beauty Yummy Yellow before he was murdered. The two were still together before he was murdered.
