Bashar Barakah Jackson (born July 20, 1999 – February 19, 2020) was an American rapper and songwriter who rose to fame in 2019 after releasing the songs “Welcome To The Party” and “Dior”.

He was known by his stage name Pop Smoke. As a partner in Brooklyn Drill, he released two mixtapes, Meet The Woo and Meet The Woo 2, before his death.

The latter was released on February 7, 2020, and peaked at number seven on the Billboard 200.

Twelve days after the project was released, masked gunmen broke into Pop Smoke’s Los Angeles home and shot him dead.

Pop Smoke was born on July 20, 1999 to Greg Jackson and Audrey Jackson. His father is from Panama and his mother is Jamaican. He has an older brother named Obasi Jackson. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and spent his growing years in the city.

Pop Smoke grew up in Brooklyn and attended nine different schools. In eighth grade, he was expelled for bringing a gun to school. As a result, he was placed on house arrest for two years after being convicted of “possession of a weapon.” He moved to Philadelphia and attended Rocktop Academy.

He was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. This incident took place in Los Angeles, California. The house where Pop Smoke was murdered was an Airbnb rental building owned by a Hollywood star.

After months of police investigation, the truth finally came out that Pop Smoke’s death was not a gang war as some people believed, but an armed robbery. Instead, the intruder shot and killed Pop Smoke when he clashed with the intruder.

As a result, five people (three adult men and two minors) were arrested and detained on suspicion of his murder.
