Radisha Jones Recalls 1993 Argument With Tupac Shakur After Rapper’s Comments About Quincy Jones

Radisha Jones famously got into an argument with Tupac Shakur in the 90s, and now she’s revealing every detail of what happened during their conversation. Did they ever make up?

According to People magazine, the 48-year-old actress wrote an open letter to Source in 1993 after the rapper made disparaging comments about her black father, legendary musician Quincy Jones, for having fathered a child with a white woman.

“As the youngest of Quincy Jones’ six daughters, I cannot view this article or this man without prejudice. [“War Stories” by Kim Green, Aug, ’93]. But I think anyone reading this article would be shocked by his ignorance and disrespect for his people,” Radisha wrote when she was 17.

She added that to demean a man like Quincy Jones, who overcame all odds and became a musical legend, is to demean “the entire progress of African Americans.”

Radisha ended her letter by questioning what the rapper would have become if black people like her father had not paved the way for him to have the opportunity to express himself.

“I don’t see you fighting for your race. In my opinion, you are destroying it and harming all your people,” she added.

More recently, the actress gave an interview to The New Yorker, where she recalled being “furious” and “very angry” because Tupac’s comments were “a new perspective” for her.

She explained that now that she’s older, she understands that nuance better, but she admitted that at the time it felt like an “unprovoked attack.”

“My dad doesn’t work for the government. He’s a music producer. How he chooses to live his life and who he loves is his own business, and I’ve always felt that way,” she added.

Radisha later revealed that the matter had been resolved and that he had immediately apologised to her when they first met. He also expressed his apologies to Quincy Jones.

“We sat down and had a really nice conversation about it, and then he became a friend,” she said.

Tupac later had a relationship with Radisha’s sister, Kidada, and spoke in his 2001 book The Autobiography of Quincy Jones that he is “the love of my life”.

The couple lived together for four months, but unfortunately, Tupac Shakur was murdered in Las Vegas in 1996, which she described as “the most horrible thing” that ever happened to her.
