Rain World Wiki
Rainworld is a survival platform game developed by Videocult and published by Adult Swim Games and Akupara Games. It was originally released for PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows in March 2017, with a version later released for Nintendo Switch in late 2018.
In Rainworld, players control Slugcat, a feline-like creature who must navigate an abandoned and hostile world to ensure their own survival. The game’s ecosystem is simulated, with slugs using debris as weapons, searching for food, and finding safe hibernation chambers to escape deadly rainstorms.
Critics’ reviews of “Rainworld” were mixed. The game was praised for its unique art design and smooth animations, but was criticized for its difficulty, inconsistent save points, and imprecise controls.
The developers released an update to address some of the concerns raised by players. In January 2023, a downloadable content pack for the PC version of Rainworld: Downpour was released, expanding the game’s content.
The DLC subsequently launched on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox platforms on July 11, 2023, providing players on these consoles the opportunity to experience enhanced gameplay and additional features.

Rain world plot
The plot of Rainworld revolves around a group of slugs trying to cross a river during a rainstorm. One of the slugs, known as the survivor, became separated from the others after slipping and falling into the water.
No matter which character the player chooses, the survivors’ siblings, the monks, will jump behind them. Slug wakes up alone in an abandoned world and embarks on a journey of discovery.
As Slug explores the desolate world, he encounters Five Pebbles, a decaying supercomputer. Five Pebbles reveals that all living things, including slugs, are trapped in an endless cycle of death and rebirth.
To escape this cycle, five pebbles guide the slug to a place where he can escape the “big loop”. This leads the slug to an underground fissure, where it will submerge itself in a sea of ”void fluid” to aid its ascent.
Throughout the game, Slug can collect pearls and interact with other characters, such as Looks to the Moon, a damaged robot. Through these encounters, Slug learns about the ancient civilizations that once inhabited this world and their quest to transcend the eternal cycle.
The game explores themes of escape, rebirth, and the role of artificial intelligence known as “iterators” in guiding living beings to ascension. The Hunter campaign is chronologically set before the Monk and Survivor campaigns, adding further depth to the story, revealing the involvement of other iterations and their impact on the characters’ journeys.
