Ralph George Macchio II was conceived by ranchers Ralph Macchio II and Rosalie Macchio on November 4, 1961, in New York City. He has a brother named Steven Macchio.

His mother, Rosalie Macchio, is of Italian descent, while his father, Ralph Macchio Sr., is of Greek and Italian descent. His roots are in Naples.

Ralph Macchio’s first job was as a spokesperson for Dr. Pepper and Bubble Yum. He made his film debut in the 1980 film, “College,” and played the role of Jeremy Andretti in the TV series “Eight Is Enough.”
In 1983, he played Johnny Cade in the film adaptation of SE Hinton’s novel of the same name, The Outsider. Ralph Macchio shot to fame in 1984 when he was cast as Daniel LaRusso in The Karate Kid. He reprised the role in the sequels, The Karate Kid II and The Karate Kid III.
