Rapper Julio Foolio shot, killed in Tampa ambush 2 days after turning 26: Report

Florida rapper Julio Foolio was shot and killed while celebrating his birthday in Tampa, multiple news outlets revealed.

The late hip-hop artist, whose real name was Charles Jones, celebrated his 26th birthday on Friday, June 21. He then decided to stay at an Airbnb to officially celebrate the special day mine.

His attorney, Lewis Fusco, told News4Jax that many people flocked to the location, causing the group to be evicted for exceeding capacity limits. Social media posts also revealed the event’s location after Julio Foolio posted a tweet inviting his followers to his pool party in Florida.

After being kicked out, Julio Foolio reportedly got a room at the Holiday Inn but was shot and killed in a parking lot ambush on Sunday, June 23.

Tampa Police Public Information Officer Jonee’ Lewis confirmed in a press release that the rapper was the victim in the shooting. In addition, three other people were also injured and were taken to the hospital for treatment. They are said to be in stable condition as of press time.

The department reportedly received the 911 call around 4:40 a.m

“While these events involving our client, Mr. Charles Jones, have been disclosed by law enforcement, we are unable to comment further at this time until details are known.” added publicly. Julio Foolio was no stranger to violence before the fatal shooting. According to First Coast News, this artist has made headlines many times in 2020, 2021 and 2023.

His most recent arrest in April 2023 resulted in him being charged with a felony for fleeing after a traffic stop on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, Jacksonville, Fla.

In 2021, he was grazed by a bullet in the Riverside area. He later addressed the incident in an Instagram post, telling the shooters, “Literally, you all missed 100 shots.”

Julio Foolio is a member of KTA, a Jacksonville gang that has a longstanding feud with the ATK gang.
