British rapper Slowthai has been cleared of raping two women at a house party.
The rapper – real name Tyron Frampton – and his accomplice, Alex Blake-Walker, have been charged with rape following the musician’s performance at The Bullingdon in Oxford on September 7, 2021.
Both Slowthai and Blake-Walker vehemently deny the allegations against them in this case.
According to Sky newsA jury at Oxford Crown Court cleared all charges against the rapper. the BBC also shared that Blake-Walker was cleared of rape and additional sexual assault charges.
Slowthai was said to have shed tears when the not guilty verdict was announced in court. The newspaper said the jury consisted of eight men and four women and that they reached a majority decision after 10 hours of deliberation.
Patrick Gibbs KC, Slowthai’s defense attorney, alleged that there were dozens of “issues” with the allegations raised in the case and that the rapper was not “people’s stereotype of a rapper,” describing him He is a “thoughtful” person. [and] modest man who “plunges into life, sometimes recklessly.”
Blake-Walker’s lawyer also spoke out about the incident. Sheryl Nwosu said the evidence presented was “not consistent with Mr Blake-Walker and his behavior on that night”, while Judge Ian Pringe said the case was “a matter of consent”.
According to SunProsecutor Heather Stangoe said the two women separated from their group of friends during a house party. Stangoe contends that the defendants in this case were not concerned with consent and that their intent was to achieve sexual gratification. It is also alleged that the two women were raped at the same time.
Slowthai is married to music star Anne-Marie, who supported her husband during his trial.
This rapper is famous for his 2019 debut album, There’s nothing great about England. The project went on to win the Mercury Prize. His second album topped the charts in 2021.
