in Spanish

Signed as RBD, one of the important bands in Spanish music, Maite Perroni, Christian Chávez and Christopher von Uckermann published today, Friday, October 4, an official statement announcing the war. their legal victory in the lawsuit against former manager Guillermo Rosas and his company T6H which they accused of embezzlement.

In a statement released on the anniversary of RBD Day, the artists revealed that Guillermo overcharged them by more than $5 million.

“Today, on World RBD Day, there is no better way to celebrate than achieving justice. Finally, after a year, this matter is over. The truth is on our side,” said the statement. Dad began, omitting the names of Anahí and Dulce María, the two missing group members.

According to them, the former manager wanted to keep $10 million from the revenue from the tour the group conducted in the US, Mexico, Brazil and Colombia. After a formal complaint to US authorities and a “thorough audit”, the final amount accepted by T6H was approximately $4.7 million, less than half the amount initially requested.

Besides money, the artists explain that what motivates them to fight is that “we feel a responsibility to address challenges that may arise in the industry, putting the protection of artists’ rights first”.

Abuse against RBD

This is not the first time band members have been mistreated by managers. During RBD’s early stages, when they were members of Televisa, Anahí, Christian, Dulce, Maite, Christopher and Alfonso ‘Poncho’ Herrera received salaries based on signed contracts before their popularity increased spurt.

“Even dolls with our faces are not given to us, let alone the money they generate,” Maite once told this reporter.

It’s no surprise that now, as adults and owners of the tour, they are very vigilant about how funds are managed. Their words make it clear that it’s not just about the personal, but about helping those who have been in their position.

They added in their statement: “This is a reminder to young artists to have the courage to stand up for themselves and demand respect. In this industry, it is important to fight for your rights.” A lesson they learned firsthand.

The RBD community celebrates but is bittersweet

The news of justice being served to the artists was well received by fans, who were ready to celebrate RBD Day, which marks the anniversary of the airing of the first episode of ‘Rebelde’. However, they could not help but regret that Anahí and Dulce were not included in the statement.

The first, who is preparing to return to television in the new season of ‘¿Quién es la máscara?’, is the closest to Guillermo among the five. This friendship made her the target of rumors that she or her husband, Mexican politician Manuel Velasco, may have been embezzling.

On the other hand, Dulce chose to stay away from anything related to public disputes.

However, fans still congratulated them and supported the reconciliation, and they weren’t the only ones. Some dancers and musicians participating in the tour also celebrated.

Some “fans” and vez de alegrarse de que llegaron a un acuerdo, siguen tirando hate “porque se distanciaron de Anahí” 😐🤷🏼‍♀️
