Romee Strijd was born in the Netherlands. Hailing from Zoetermeer in South Holland, Romee Strijd has a younger sister named Ise Strijd.

When she was 13, a scout approached her in Amsterdam, but she turned down the offer due to her nervousness and other aspirations.

However, at the age of 15, she decided to try her hand at modelling and signed with a DNA modelling agency in 2011. She dropped out of school to focus on her modelling career but returned to her hometown at the age of 17 to complete her studies as the industry proved too much and she was homesick.
