Michael Adebayo (born September 23, 1999), better known by his stage name Ruger, is a 24-year-old Nigerian singer and songwriter.

Born and raised in Lagos, Ruger is from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria.

On January 18, 2020, he came into the spotlight after being announced as a newly signed artist to D’Prince’s Jonzing World Records.

Ruger was born on September 23, 1999, to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Olayinka. He belongs to Generation Z.

His parents named him Michael Adebayo Olayinka. “Adebayo” is his real name. He is from the Yoruba tribe, a native of a state in the southwestern United States.

He was born and raised in Lagos State, where he lived with his family. He was born into a Christian family and often went to church with his parents. It was in church that he discovered his musical talent and began to express it. As a teenager, he joined the church choir and used his talent to serve God.

After a few years, he became an excellent singer and could write gospel songs. He was also a member of the school band. This helped him improve his singing and songwriting skills quickly. He and his bandmates performed at school events and represented the school in activities.

Luger was born in his native Nigeria in 1999. He comes from a humble and respectful Adebayo family.

Ruger obtained his Junior Secondary School Certificate and West African School Certificate from prestigious primary and secondary schools in Lagos.

He is currently an undergraduate student at a tertiary university in southwestern Nigeria.

Since his teenage years, Ruger decided he wanted to create mainstream music, and during his senior year of high school, he began writing Afrobeat songs to hone his songwriting skills.

Desperate for success in the music industry, he began recording his own songs in a nearby studio. Some of these singles did well locally, helping Luger gain fame in the Lagos underground music scene. As a result, he began to receive invitations to perform at local music shows and concerts in Lagos.

Ruger achieved major success when he was discovered by D’Prince, a rapper and talent manager at Mavin Records. D’Prince was intrigued by Ruger’s talent and decided to take him under his wing. In January 2021, D’Prince announced Ruger as the latest signee to Jonzing World. This is a joint venture deal between Song Music Entertainment UK, Columbia Records and Jonzing World. He entered the Nigerian music scene on January 20, 2021 with the release of his debut single, “One Shirt”. Rema and D’Prince sang on the song.

Two months later, Ruger showed the industry what he is capable of by releasing his debut music project titled Pandemic on March 12, 2021. The project is a 6-track EP consisting of the following songs: Bounce, Ruger, Abu Dhabi, Bow, Monalisa, and Yekpa. Kukbeatz produced all the songs on the project. Previously, he released the single titled Ruger of the same name on February 17, 2021.

The single “Bounce” was a commercial success. Once the EP was released, the song quickly became a hit, increasing Ruger’s profile and fan base. “Bounce” peaked at #39 on the Top 50 chart. The single also peaked at #20 on the TurnTable year-end chart.

Later that year, Ruger released his second EP titled The Second Wave on November 19, 2021. The project was once again produced exclusively by Kukbeatz. The 4-track project features the following hits – Champion, Snapchat, Dior, and Useless.

The success of the EP paved the way for Ruger to embark on his first international tour, called The Rugged Tour. The tour kicks off in May 2022 in the United States, with Ruger playing in cities such as Houston, Dallas, and Las Vegas. He also plays sold-out shows in countries such as Cyprus, the Netherlands, and Australia. He will also perform in Portugal, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, and Malta.

In June 2022, Ruger made a splash on social media when he announced that he would be releasing a third EP. He launched the project titled The Second Wave Deluxe on June 17, 2022. He added the singles Girlfriend, Wewe, and Warning to the project.

As a teenager, Ruger joined the church choir as a singer. He also signed us up as a member of the school band. He did all this to develop his talents as a musician.

He started writing songs in high school and singing them at school events and local shows in Lagos. By then, he had come up with the stage name Ruger.

On January 18, 2020, D’Prince announced on social media that he had signed Ruger to his record label Jonzing World. Thus, Ruger became the second artist signed by D’Prince in two years. The second artist was Rema. Rema was co-signed with Mavin Records under Don Jazzy.

But Ruger’s situation is different. DePrince is working with Sony Music West Africa and Columbia Records to manage the talented artist.
