early life
SAINt JHN was born on August 26, 1986 in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Georgetown, Guyana.
He spent his childhood splitting his time between Guyana and Brooklyn, New York, every three years.
SAINt JHN was inspired by his older brother, who used to rap with friends in the neighborhood, to start making music at age 12. While living in Guyana, he wrote his first song as a freshman in high school.
Profession
SAINt JHN performed and wrote under his birth name, Carlos St. John, before adopting the stage name Saint Jhn (or Carlos Saint John). In 2010, he released the EP The St. John Portfolio and the mixtape In Association under his own name. Shortly thereafter, he flew to Los Angeles.
SAINt JHN wrote songs for Rihanna for two months, but none of his records were accepted. SAINt JHN returned home and co-wrote the 2012 song “No Interruption” with Hoodie Allen.
In the following years, he wrote songs for bands such as Kiesza, Gorgon City and Nico & Vinz. He wrote the songs “Crash” and “Rivals” for the band Usher, both of which were included on the 2016 Hard II Love album.
