Sajid Javid, 54, was born on December 5, 1969, in Rochdale, Lancashire, England. He grew up in Bristol, where his parents, Abdul Ghani-Javid and Zubaid Javid, immigrants from Punjab, Pakistan, ran a shop.

Growing up in a multicultural environment, Javid was raised with four siblings: Basit, Tariq, Atif and Khalid. He became interested in financial markets at an early age, inspired by the Thatcher government’s privatisation.
