Career
Scott Dozier is an American convicted murderer who is awaiting execution in Nevada for the 2002 murder of Jeremiah Miller, 22, a drug associate of Dozier’s.
Dozier would have been the first inmate executed by the state of Nevada in more than a decade. However, he committed suicide in prison before the execution took place, following a long-running battle by the state to carry out the death penalty.
On April 18, 2002, Miller met Dozier at a motel on the Las Vegas Strip, where Dozier promised to help Miller purchase ephedrine, a key ingredient in the manufacture of methamphetamine.
When Miller arrived, Dozier killed him, sawed his body into pieces, stuffed most of it into a suitcase and dumped it near an apartment complex in west Las Vegas.
Dozier was also linked to the July 27, 2001, murder of Jasen “Griffin” Greene, whose decomposed body was found in the desert north of Phoenix. Dozier allegedly shot Greene at a trailer park in Carefree, Arizona, because Greene threatened to expose Dozier’s methamphetamine manufacturing operation.
Dozier was sentenced to 22 years in prison in 2005 for Greene’s murder. After being extradited to Nevada, he stood trial for Miller’s murder and was convicted in September 2007.
He was sentenced to death on October 3, 2007, a decision that the Nevada Supreme Court upheld on January 23, 2012. However, Dozier committed suicide in prison before the state could carry out the death sentence.
