early life
Segun Ogunbe was born in 1970 in Ibadan, an ancient city in Oyo State, Nigeria. His father, Akin Ogun, was a tailor who made clothes for Hannah Awolowo (Obafemi Awolowo’s wife) in the 1950s, and his mother was Amope Ogunbe. His father was also a famous actor and film producer.
He is the nephew of famous Nigerian film actor and film producer Akin Ogungbe who died in November 2012. His uncle married 20 wives and had 50 children. He has a brother named Oluwadamilare Omobolaji Akunni Ogungbe.
Although he grew up in Ibadan, Segun Ogungbe hails from Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Segun Ogunbe acted in his first film at the age of three. As he grew older, he discovered his passion for acting and decided to devote himself to show business.
In 1996, he founded his own film company, Segun Ogungbe Films.
He shot to fame after the movie Ibi Giga, in which he produced and starred.
Since then, he has produced movies like Agartha, Baba Arugbo, Ologbo Iya Ijebu, Ila Owo, and many more.
He received the City People Film Special Recognition Award.

Segun Ogungbe has five children from his marriage. Bolu Ogungbe, Femi Ogungbe and Fisayoni Ogungbe are from his first marriage to Atinuke Ogungbe while Obadara David Ogungbe and Obafemi Derrick Ogungbe are the products of his union with Omowunmi Ajiboye.
