Selena Gomez has been candid about her mental health struggles in the past. Now, the star is continuing that streak by sharing why she doesn’t sleep in her bedroom anymore.

The “Come and Get It” singer appeared at the World Mental Health Summit on October 10. While there, she shared that her mental health struggles God made it impossible for her to sleep in the bedroom anymore.

“I spent so much time in my bedroom that I didn’t even sleep in my bedroom anymore because I associated it with really dark times,” she said. E! News.
Anxiety can sometimes be very debilitating. I haven’t wanted to get out of bed for years and part of that is because I’m not working. You have to believe in yourself and do work that will actually enlighten you a little bit,” Gomez continued.

She went on to detail a difficult night she had before attending the summit.
“As recently as last night, I was lying in bed and couldn’t sleep until about 4 o’clock, just because my mind was racing. And I kept saying over and over, ‘This will pass. . Just let it go through your body and it will go away’ and of course, eventually, I felt sleepy,” Gomez shared.
She revealed that talking about mental health can be helpful.
“I still have days where I need my mom, like my mom. And there are also moments for me where I just allow myself to be vulnerable, cry and speak out,” she said.

Gomez has previously been open about her struggles with bipolar disorder as well as anxiety.
“Once I figured out what was going on mentally… I would have more freedom to be content with what I had. It’s a topic that should be discussed freely, not embarrassed,” Gomez said E! News.
“I can help other people feel less alone and find the help they need, which is really all I want,” she added.
