Selena Gomez may be saying goodbye to music, at least for now.
The singer and actress sat down with Saoirse Ronan Diversityof the Actors on Actors series. During their chat, the actresses talked about the differences between acting and singing, which prompted Gomez, 32, to share that she is “too old” to be a pop star.
“I’m sure my strength is probably acting. But one thing I’m proud of in music is my ability to tell a story – my favorite songs are mostly ballads, they’re so transparent and honesty. But I think I might be a little too old for the life of a pop star, I’m really happy to be entering this new era of my life, because in many ways, this This is just the beginning,” she said.
However, Gomez doesn’t think she will give up music completely, because her partner, Benny Blanco, is the producer.
“I will always have music in my life because my partner is a musician and I love having moments to do that for fun. It can be a bit vulnerable when you put yourself out there instead of hiding in a character,” she shared.
However, she was determined to take a step back from music.
“I love telling stories and my music career is separate. However, I don’t see that as a forever thing,” she added.
In October, Gomez shared that she will not be releasing music anytime soon as she is focusing on her acting career at this time.
“Right now I have nothing,” she said. Diversity in a separate interview. “I don’t think there’s any movement going on at the moment, but it will always be in my life.”
Her last album was 2020 Rareher first number one single with “Lose You to Love Me.”
Gomez has apparently turned her focus to acting since then. In 2021, she began starring in the successful and widely praised Hulu show. There was only murder in the building with Steve Martin and Martin Short.
This year, she received a Golden Globe nomination for her work on the show as well as another nomination for her role in the widely praised Netflix film Emilia Perez.
“I don’t even know what to write. I am so proud of @zoesaldana and I am so grateful and honored @goldenglobes,” she said before her nomination.
