early life
Seyi Shay was born to Mr. and Mrs. Oluwaseyi Odedere on December 21, 1985. She was born and raised in Tottenham, London to Nigerian parents.
Her mother is from northern Nigeria and her father is a native of Ife, Osun State in southwestern Nigeria.
Seyi Shay was born into a family of four with three older siblings (two brothers and one sister). She and her siblings were raised by a single mother.
She was raised in a religious environment and felt like an only child during her adolescence.

At the age of two, Seyi Shay moved to Nigeria with his mother and was educated at Maryland Command High School in Lagos before returning to London to continue his undergraduate studies.

In 2015, Seyi Shay founded a charity called Shay A Ray of Hope out of her love for the girl child. The charity is dedicated to helping the girl child. She has participated in the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Campaign and collaborated with other world artists on a cover of the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” video.
As an ambassador for the Genevieve Pink Ball Foundation, she sang the song “Because We Care,” the main purpose of which is to bring hope and encouragement to breast cancer patients around the world.
She is also a big supporter of the “Slum School” project. Seyi Shay made headlines when she caught her husband cheating on her, which led to their divorce. She is married. So far, she has not announced her boyfriend on social media. There are rumors that she once dated Wizkid.
