The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer gave a candid interview to ‘GQ’ where she revealed her heartfelt grieving process through her music, while wowing fans in a photo shoot showing off a pioneering silicone bra that barely exists.
Shakira – full name Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll – confessed that it took time for her to start mourning the breakup process.

“It was not easy to recognize all the hurt I felt at the time of writing this album and then express it,” the 47-year-old told the media. “For months after the breakup, I kept quiet, trying to start mourning, but I couldn’t really start grieving until I started writing music.”
The singer caused a stir when she broke up with her ex Gerard Piqué in June 2022, shortly after the former FC Barcelona and Spain footballer was accused of cheating on the singer, according to ‘Daily Mail’.
“It was my healing. And it continues to be. Grief is a non-linear process. It’s full of peaks and valleys,” the singer added.
In Shakira’s latest album, ‘Las Soones Ya No Lloran’, the singer details her various emotions throughout the healing process, from expressing gratitude for her relationship of them to pointing out his narcissism.

Shakira and Piqué, 37, met on set during the making of her music video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” in 2010. She was introduced by a mutual friend after she thought he was so cute while filming.
The two would go public with their romance a year later in 2011, and although the two never got married, it seems like she never wanted to. “To tell you the truth, marriage scares me. I don’t want him to see me as his wife. I’d rather he see me as his girlfriend,” she said in 2020, per ‘EVERYONE.’
She also affirmed that marriage is not a “necessary step in a couple’s life.” The singer shares two children with her ex-boyfriend, a football player: Milan Piqué Mebarak, 11 years old, and Sasha, 9 years old.
