Early life and education
Shenseea was born on October 1, 1996, to a Korean father and an Afro-Jamaican mother. She was born at the Mandeville Regional Hospital in Mandeville, Jamaica. Her mother is Castilyn Eleanor Williams, but she never met her father.
She lived with her family at Harmony Hall in St. Elizabeth before moving to Kingston, Jamaica at the age of three. She continued to travel between St. Elizabeth and Kingston to visit her grandmother.

Shenseea attended Mona High School and earned a degree in Recreation Management before attending Exced Community College.

Shenseea was signed by Lemuel Samuel’s music label Rockstar a few years after she became an influential musician. She rose to fame when she sang on the side stage at the 2015 Reggae Sumfest and remixed Vybz Kartel’s hit song Loodi on the Reggae Sumfest stage.
She won the 2016 Youth Perspective Award for her song “Loodi” with Vybz Kartel and was awarded the title of “Young Hot Artist” and “Breakthrough Celebrity 2016”. In addition to dancehall music, she also showed her rapping ability through freestyle rap.
