Sho Madjozi (born Maya Christinah Xichavo Wegerif on 9 May 1992) is a South African rapper, actor, songwriter and rapper.
She is one of Africa’s finest musical performers. She rose to international fame with the song “John Cena”.
Sho Madjozi is also a poet and her single became an international hit, which gave her the opportunity to meet WWE Champion John Cena.

early life
Sho Madjozi was born on 9 May 1992 in Shirley village in Elim, Limpopo.
Her father is European, Marc Wegerif, and her mother is South African, Rosemary Phaweni.
Her parents divorced when she was very young, but she still lives with her mother. She has half sisters from her father and half sisters from her mother. Sho Madjozi is of mixed race because of her parents.
As a child, she traveled extensively with her father and spent time in Tanzania and Senegal.

Sho Madjozi is a graduate of Tanganyika International School, Tanzania.
With her excellent academic performance, she won a scholarship to study creative writing and Africana studies at the prestigious Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, USA.
After completing her studies in the United States, she went on to study at the University of South Africa in Johannesburg.

She writes poetry under the stage name Maya The Poet. In June 2018, she was chosen as the ambassador for TRACE Mobile, the prepaid mobile provider in Trace Urban, South Africa.
She rose to fame after the famous rapper Okmalumkoolkat sang her songs “Ngiyashisa Bhe” and “Gqi”. She then started rapping under the stage name Sho Madjozi.
